Why is my epoxy garage floor peeling, and can it be repaired?
Peeling almost always traces to preparation or moisture: a floor that was acid-etched or painted instead of diamond-ground, a thin water-based DIY kit, or vapor coming up through the slab. Small areas can be cut back to a sound edge, re-ground and patched; if the failure is widespread the honest fix is to remove the old coating, grind, repair, and install a proper system. We evaluate the floor on site before recommending either.
Can an existing epoxy floor be recoated?
Yes, if the existing coating is well bonded. We test adhesion, sand or grind for profile, repair any chips, and apply a new color or clear topcoat. If it is lifting, chalking badly or was applied over a contaminated slab, recoating would trap the problem, so we remove it instead.
